President, Strategy & Planning
As President, Strategy & Planning, Will shapes PHD’s strategic product across all US accounts and new business efforts. His focus is helping clients use media to create business impact – by tapping into high-opportunity audiences, activating through powerful insights, and embedding brands in the right moments in culture. A true believer in the power of culture and collaboration, Will leads Team PHD in constant pursuit of better ways to bring its people, ideas and capabilities together to do great things for clients.
Will brings more than 17 years of integrated marketing experience – having held previous roles spanning digital marketing, direct marketing, brand advertising, and media.
Most recently, Will joined PHD from UM (Universal McCann) where he was Head of Strategy, US. While at UM, Will created the agency’s “Moment’s Marketing” approach – a new planning model that integrated thinking across traditional media, branded content, and social/real-time media to create more culturally-savvy and responsive brand experiences. UM was recognized many times during Will’s tenure, including an Effie Award for Will’s work on the launch of MasterCard’s Priceless Cities program. Additionally, Will helped welcome many new clients to the agency’s US roster including Chrysler, MasterCard, ExxonMobil, Heinz, and Office Depot/Office Max.
Prior to UM, Will spent 5 years at Ogilvy where he was Worldwide Group Director, Marketing Strategy. At Ogilvy, he launched first-to-market planning approaches for American Express OPEN and IBM. Will also spent 3 years at a digital marketing start-up; he began his working years as a Management Consultant working with packaged goods brands such as Unilever and M&M Mars.
